All fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students are welcome to join the 1st year orchestra class at your elementary school. No prior musical experience is required. Classes are offered two days per week, before or after school. Students can choose to play one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello or bass. These instruments will be demonstrated to students in an assembly during the first week of school.

Volunteers needed: Our program is a parent-run organization. We need parent volunteers to help our program continue to be successful. Please come to our parent volunteer table at registration to find out how you can become a volunteer.
1. Purchase – Classical Strings (801-786-1605), The Book Table (435-752-3055), and JK Stringz (435-757-3776) are great local options to purchase an instrument. Southwest Strings (www.swstrings.com) and Shar Music (www.sharmusic.com) have affordable, quality instruments available for sale on their websites. If you take good care of the instrument, this is the cheapest option, as you can sell your instrument later on for what you paid for it, minus the price for a new set of strings. Please, DO NOT buy an instrument from E-bay or other online bidding sites. These instruments are often poorly made and require a lot of work to even be playable.
2. Rent – Students can rent an instrument from MWSA at registrations. We usually have enough cellos and basses for all students who will be renting those instruments. Logan School District does not have any violins/violas to rent. Cache does not have enough violins and violas for all students who want to play these instruments. All instruments will be rented from MWSA on a first come, first serve basis. Classical Strings, JK Stringz and The Book Table also have instruments available to rent.
1st year orchestra classes will begin the week of September 17th. Please visit www.mountainweststrings.com to see class schedules or call 435-770-9189 for more information.
*All students interested in playing the bass MUST contact Patty Bartholomew at firstname.lastname@example.org or 435-770-9189 BEFORE September 4th or you will not be allowed to play bass. All students wanting to play bass must also commit to attending weekly Friday afternoon bass lab classes or must take private lessons.
