Renting vs. Buying

Brand new beginning student violin models can usually be purchased for around $250-$300 for a quality instrument.  When you are done using the instrument, you can typically sell the instrument (via ksl.com, newspaper listing, or at one of our 1st year registrations) for about 80%-90% of what you paid for it.  Renting gives your student time to decide if they want to continue playing their instrument with a lower up front cost. Some parents like to rent the smaller sizes, then purchase the full size after their child has grown. It is important to note that instruments may not be available for your child to rent when they get to middle school, depending on availability.
